A man died after reportedly being stung by bees while hiking in Tai Po on Tuesday.

Police received a call from a woman at 4:15pm, saying she and her three friends had been attacked by bees on Lai Pek Shan.

The deceased man was said to have separated from the group while trying to escape.

He was found unconscious about three and a half hours later by the Government Flying Service team and rushed to Eastern Hospital where he was certified dead.

The woman who called the police also suffered bee stings and was treated at Nethersole Hospital.

The other two hikers were not injured.
