Taiwan’s Cathay Life Insurance commits $50m to two PE funds

Cathay Life Insurance, the insurance subsidiary of Taiwanese conglomerate Cathay Financial Holdings, has committed $20 million to Vertex SEA Fund V and $30 million to H.I.G. Middle Market LBO Fund IV, according to the company’s regulatory filings. 

Singapore-based venture capital company Vertex Ventures, which is backed by state investor Temasek, is said to be nearing the first close of its fifth fund worth $450 million, DealStreetAsia reported last month. The other limited partners (LPs) in the fund include the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation.
